Social networking in flights

Idea: A flight journey may it be a long one or a short one, it's boring. Considering the capacity of the modern planes, a flight journey is a perfect candidate for social networking. A poor man's approach to this would be to distribute a questionnaire to each passenger asking them their name, occupation, interests, etc; and then match up (i.e. make them sit together) people with similar interests. Good news is technology comes to our aid now, and we have internet facility in flights. We can develop social networking applications (something like for flights) or gizmos for this small subset of people, and in the end everybody leaves happy (not bored!) and maybe with a couple of new friends. People can share their travel experience, business class people hold a mini-conference, the possibilities are endless.

Reward: An interesting flight journey.

Bonus: Group games also might be possible here. e.g. Mafia, Poker, Quizzing, Two truths and a lie.

Twinkle, that's perfectly alright. Participating in this social networking games can be optional to the extent that we can have a separate class of tickets for this.

Nidhi, Most of the people travelling in flights are pretty civilized. And I have to respectfully disagree with your opinion that they will mess things up. About the loud noice, I am sure a social activity will help you divert your attention from there.

What a great social cause you are doing for people who are travelling i think someone needs a good company to avoid such conditions.

Exactly my point. I am thinking of providing them great company, albeit with total strangers.

Natural tendency for any person is to avoid filling up endless questionnaires. For people travelling especially so. In today's age of getting things done as fast and as painlessly as possible, filling up essay-type questions about yourself won't be happening.
However, you never know what destiny has in store. Two aisles down from you could be your soul mate sitting. The way to facilitate your meeting him/her would be something Mr. Bhavesh you need to think about!

That could be easy if social networking websites like facebook provide facility to book your flights. That way, you already know a lot of information both personal and professional, which you would have extracted by means of questionnaires. May be this could be a new idea by itself.
